Artwork Statement
The inspiration for this painting was from a trip to Greece to the island of Rhodes, where I came across this little girl busking with her gorgeous little puppy by her side. I took photos and of course donated some money for her efforts. It’s when you see young children really making an effort it makes you stop and think and really appreciate what we do have. All these trips overseas that I have taken, as I keep emphasising, often on a shoestring budget, really makes me appreciate what we do have in Australia.

Today, over 50,000 Australian families have been supported by our 117 McGrath Breast Care Nurses located across the country. This service is provided free of charge and can be accessed by self-referral. Every day, we work towards realising Jane’s vision: for every family experiencing breast cancer to have access to the support of a breast care nurse, no matter where they live or financial situation. We rely on the support of the general public, Corporate Partners and the Government to make a difference to the lives of those experiencing breast cancer. Donations, hosting or attending community events and purchasing pink products in our name all help us raise funds and achieve our mission. Breast cancer doesn’t care how old you are, where you live, whether you’re a career woman or a mother.
