Graeme Endean: Textura Urbanus is a must-see in person. Be taken back by the technical genius behind his work. He is a master high-warp weaver that has dedicated his life to this medieval technique in tapestry. He is one of the very few artists that have a background in high-warp weaving, a European practice that he carries throughout his collections of works. Graeme Endean’s body of work has many different size and themes but all are cohesive in technique.

In this series Wild Style, he will be exhibiting at ArtSHINE Gallery, Graeme Endean uses the same method of meditative state that it takes to capture a vision and transform it into a new style. This exhibition will be a blend of high warp tapestries and his multi-functional sculptures that are rustic and yet stylize. The Wild Style series is created with metal, found objects, retrieved and repurposed objects and he forms them into artworks with similar techniques that he does with tapestry. Graeme Endean is inspired by the urban environment of Sydney city and the inner west. You can feel this texture of his reflect the busy and industrial influence of the city in his artworks.

“Voltaire’s poignant conclusion is as pertinent today for humanity as it was for Candide and his companions after their misadventures to Eldorado and back. With the present dilemmas of climate change, loss of species, peak oil and water, we need to turn around our destructive ways and develop a nurturing attitude towards the planet.” – Graeme Endean.
