As an immigrant to this country I feel an affinity with the introduced domesticated bird, happy in its new environment, busy with its own affairs, and often clueless as to the expanse of the world around it. My chicken is exploring. Learning to appreciate and find an affinity with the local bushland. And, I hope, not to become a feral intruder but rather a “good neighbour” to the other inhabitants of it’s world – both flora and fauna.
