In this tenth version, the artist again combines semi-cursive script with the brushwork of zhangcao, an early form of cursive writing. Unlike the sweeping strokes of the ninth work, these characters sit in more closely spaced columns. Some strokes are bold and rounded; others are light and fine. Look at how that changing weight gives the familiar poem a fresh rhythm.
