Goldfinch and Sunflower Heart

29.7 x 21 cmFramed: 43 x 32.5 cmWATERCOLOR ON PAPER
The breeding male of Goldfinch has a red face and a black-and-white head. The back and flanks are buff or chestnut brown. The black wings have a broad yellow bar. The tail is black and the rump is white. Goldfinches appear to prefer feeding on the supplementary food that we provide to the natural foods available in gardens. Sunflower hearts were overwhelmingly the preferred option like showen here in this painting.
