Toile is French for linen cloth. Toile de Jouy was a specific linen type printed with romantic, pastoral patterns in a single colour, usually black, blue, or red, on an unbleached fabric.

I began with the three oriental brides and grooms all in their traditional wedding costumes! I created this artwork from my journey from the Golden Lotus shoe! I was fascinated with costumes and was eager to develop my own traditional outfits and silhouettes, with print and other detail. This resulted in my other 3 bigger studies of Double Happiness across 3 different dynasties.
