I'm ready for my close-up! It’s all in the eyes!
Silent gazing is about expression and the eyes. I was inspired by the early glamour photos of the flapper girls and also many vintage actresses. In their prime after a sad and dark period. Makeup and fashion will make big statements, and a treacherous lifestyle to match. There was a force of new, free-loving, liberated, strong women.

Although with such confidence and free-loving, there were so many sad and tragic stories. I still can’t break free from the men's world! In this painting, I also want to depict their animated expressions and how colourful they were even in the early days of silent and black-and-white films.
