Lotus tea is an infusion made from lotus leaves, flowers, roots, fruit, seeds, or embryos. It is known as liánchá in Chinese and Yeoncha in Korean. It is also known as trà sen in Vietnamese. Blue lotus flower (Nymphaea caerulea) is a psychoactive plant, also known as blue Egyptian lotus, blue water lily, and sacred blue lily.

It’s been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years as a natural aphrodisiac, sleep aid, and anxiety reliever. However, due to its psychoactive properties, many people wonder if it’s legal and safe to use. Drinking tea is very popular in Chinese culture. Sharing tea amongst a group of friends is lovely to see as the banter can be half the fun. As they share some tea about what’s going on with their lives they also will be drinking more Tea!
