The deep, dark red is the result of mixing red with a dash of green and blue resulting in brown with purple undertones. It's more sophisticated and serious than true red, symbolizing ambition, wealth, and power.

This painting is a study of ever-changing China and the change of silhouette in women Qipao. It became tighter and slimmer in silhouette, less adornment but embroideries were still used! Western influence is also evident, but political propaganda use of Lianbatou was still used. With these changes, new shoe versions were designed to create the same illusion as the Lotus shoe without the painful struggle of feet binding.
