Inspired by vintage posters like those for silent movies and advertising posters. I like the strong vintage colours. The classic contrasting stripes of the vintage circus poster. I wanted to depict the ritual of the seducing dance of the Superb Lyrebird.

The mimicking sounds they make are eclectic and of perfect pitch. The big and impressive endowment of his plume is as impressive as the follies fan dance. It is never too much effort to impress your intended future mate. Here I painted the Lyrebird cage into the bodice close to the heart, and the emotive reaction of her face and gesture is stoic and silent!
