These wing feathers were naturally moulted out by a bird that was being rehabbed in wildlife care.

Tawny Frogmouths are often mistaken for owls due their nocturnal behaviours and similar colourings. They lack the talons of owls and are actually closely related to the nightjar.
They catch insects in flight and their feathers are structured to be silent when flying.
