"I’m a big fan of blue and white porcelain. I have a sizeable collection collected from everywhere. It seems to be a mainstay of interior designers globally and antique pieces change hands for large sums. However, I recently learnt that many Chinese prefer the older ceramic pieces such as Song Dynasty celadon ware and Tang Dynasty horses. The blue and white fashion was started by Europeans - a lot of the blue and white ceramics exported were everyday household items in China. Chinoiserie is still fashionable: designs from the ‘mysterious east’ are as sought after today as they were in 1750."
