Artist’s Statement

Michelle Cox’s creative journey is one of reinvention, merging decades of high-level business acumen with a passion for tactile art. Her career spans from boardrooms to the pottery wheel, from strategy to functional creations. Her ceramics brand, flung ceramics, reflects that same purpose but through clay: connecting people with grounded beauty and objects that inspire daily rituals.

After years of corporate leadership in the C-suite, including founding several companies, Michelle launched flung ceramics. Underpinned by Michelle’s fascination with clay’s limitless potential and her artistic curiosity, it is stocked in leading homeware stores and is fast becoming one of the most sought-after ceramics brands in Australia.

Michelle’s tableware and statement pieces ask us to pause, consider, and engage with the handcrafted beauty often overlooked in daily life. Beautiful, yet functional, flung pieces are not designed for once-a-year use. They are practical pieces of art, becoming part of an everyday ritual you can’t live without.

Having recently returned from working with a master potter in Umbria, Italy, new bold colours in her latest collection ‘Reinvention’ have emerged through her handcarved statement pieces. As she debuts her work at this first exhibition, Michelle’s unique blend of creativity and artistry is evident in all her pieces.
